Gathering again

We had a great night last night as Commissioners from Sheffield Poverty Truth’s first commission got together again at Sheffield College to hear the latest from the recommendations and everything that is going on.

We are finding there is a lot of momentum and Andy shared some of what’s been happening:

  • Andy updated about the two meetings we’ve had with Sheffield Council’s Strategy and Resources committee. This includes the Council adopting the Brown Envelope Code which is our first win.

  • A Co-Creating Training Planning session has been scheduled to discuss with Council team about how to co-create training for staff as per the Systems groups recommendations.

  • Synergy Sheffield Mental Health Alliance is working with the Poverty Truth Commission to deliver some of the mental health related recommendations. They are dedicating their next full alliance meeting to the report.

  • Updates were shared relating to workstreams focusing on Early Years, Children and Young People and how this connects to the wider recommendations. Again there’s lots of momentum.

  • Sheffield Poverty Truth is going to become a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) with Trustees to be nominated at the next Steering Group meeting on 18 March.
